Kelly Rosenthal is a social anthropologist by training and has spent 15 years working in the education and development sector. She started off in community organising for the right to education and moved into philanthropy, where she managed portfolios of catalytic and transformative grants to child rights non-profit organisations across Southern Africa. For six years, she ran an immersive, experiential learning higher education programme on Cities and Social Justice, working with organisations, city management, social movements and citizens in New York City, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Barcelona, Dakar, Delhi, Hanoi and Cape Town. During Covid-19, she was seconded to the Solidarity Fund to help run national emergency interventions to mitigate the health and socio-economic disasters brought on by the crisis. Kelly currently works in child and youth development, with a focus on early childhood development, afterschool programmes and access to the economy for young adults. She lives in Cape Town.
