Anita du Toit has more than 20 years franchising consulting experience across the telecommunications, automotive, restaurant and retail industries amongst others. She is an authority on social franchising with extensive experience and papers published on the subject.  Anita worked as franchise consultant in the commercial sector and franchise specialist at a commercial bank.  She founded her own consulting firm, Franchise Fundi, in 2020. 

Her work in social franchising is underpinned by the principles learnt in consulting within the franchise sector in South Africa in both commercial and social franchising.  She has participated in social franchising projects in various sectors including primary health care, education, internet connectivity and engagement for poor communities, Early Childhood Development (ECD), social advocacy and the development of microfranchising in agriculture, tourism, renewable energy and newspaper distribution.  

Anita started collaborating with Spring Impact in 2015 and was the lead consultant to organisations that formed part of the world’s first Social Franchise Accelerator in partnership with the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business (The Bertha Centre) and Spring Impact (then ICSF, the International Centre for Social Franchising).  

Her publications include chapters in the books Social Franchising (edited by Ilan Alon) and the Handbook of Research on Franchising (edited by Frank Hoy, Rozenn Perigot and Andrew Terry). Anita holds a MCom Masters degree in Marketing Management from the University of Pretoria. 

Anita works with Spring Impact on a project basis.
