Scale Accelerator is a tailored programme that helps mission driven organisations to scale their impact and change more lives.

Participants benefit from an intensive programme of support, that transforms their ambitious vision into a clear plan for meaningful action. We approach things differently, by starting with the mission, impact and change that an organisation wants to have at scale, rather than growth for the sake of it.

What does Scale Accelerator involve?

Scale Accelerator is a six-month support programme and participants benefit from:

1. Bespoke consultancy

Each organisation has a dedicated team of 2-3 experienced consultants providing over 30 days of consultancy support.

The consultancy team will help you answer key strategic questions such as:

  • Which of the different routes to scale will best meet your objectives?
  • How will your desired quality be maintained at scale?
  • How will your organisation need to change to scale impact?

The consultancy team will guide you through our design process, developing a model for scaling your impact. We will work with you to develop a partnerships strategy, quality assurance mechanisms and a financial model.

2. Cohort collaboration and learning

Bringing together like-minded social leaders from across the UK, the Scale Accelerator provides opportunities for collaboration.

A series of networking events are open to each Scale Accelerator cohort, including a launch event, residential training and programme closure event.

3. Technical expertise

We partner with sector experts that support each organisation to address their specific technical challenges as they implement their scale plans.

4. Flexible support after the programme ends

For a year after the programme you will have regular check-ins with the consulting team as well more focused support, such as workshops, practical advice and trouble-shooting, dictated by your organisation’s specific needs.

5. Alumni network and events

Scale Accelerator has supported participants dealing with issues from domestic violence, homelessness and youth violence/protection, to economic empowerment, reforming the criminal justice system and food poverty.

Since 2015, 24 of the UK’s top charities and social entrepreneurs have participated in the Scale Accelerator.

We will connect you with Scale Accelerator alumni and invite you to learning events for Scale Accelerator alumni.

Scale Accelerator was a transformational experience for Spark Inside, it helped us identify a strategy to scale our delivery and impact nationally - and highlighted the infrastructure we needed to put into place first. The programme galvanised us to move forward faster.

Spring Impact is piloting a new, issues-led version of Scale Accelerator, which will focus on scaling the impact of projects that help people who face multiple complex needs, like homelessness and substance abuse.

Our aim is to explore how a more targeted approach can benefit organisations with a shared ambition and interest in system disruption, to scale their impact.

If you don’t work with people facing multiple complex needs, we still want to stay in touch. We will be recruiting our next Scale Accelerator cohort later in 2020. Click here to sign up for regular news and updates about Scale Accelerator, including future recruitment rounds

Scale Accelerator has been made possible by the National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players. With the support of The National Lottery Community Fund we are pleased to offer subsidised places on Scale Accelerator.

Full subsidies will be available for the majority of organisations accepted on to the Scale Accelerator.

Larger organisations, or those currently receiving funding to scale may be asked to contribute to the costs.

They didn’t just come in and say “Here’s a model that is the best model and this is how you change” instead they came here and found out what our priorities are by asking a lot of question and by doing that helped us understand what our priorities are.
