Spring Impact appoints Mohamed Osman as its new CEO

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mohamed Osman as our new CEO. Since 2020, Mohamed has been Spring Impact’s UK Director, developing and leading the UK’s office strategy and operations, as well as overseeing a portfolio of domestic and international projects.

Mohamed has 20 years of experience of building partnerships, implementing and scaling programs in global health, social enterprise and humanitarian assistance across 25 countries. Previously Global Grants Director at Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF), Mohamed spent a decade growing the Foundation to become one of the foremost independent AIDS charities in the world.

He succeeds Dan Berelowitz, Spring Impact’s Founder and outgoing CEO, who founded the organisation based on his experiences starting and working across a range of social sector organisations, and his frustration at seeing them not scale up. After a decade of leading the organisation, Dan Berelowitz will now be moving into the role of ‘Founder’.

Commenting on the transition, Dan Berelowitz, said:

“I am extraordinarily proud of all that the Spring Impact team has achieved over the last 10 years. After a decade and so many wonderful stories and successes, it is now the right moment for others to take the mission to the next level.

I couldn’t be more thrilled to be succeeded by Mohamed Osman, whose impressive experience in leading and creating high-level programmes and partnerships has been making social change happen for the last 20 years. Mohamed’s strategic and impact-driven leadership will undoubtedly take Spring Impact’s mission forward with great success, leading it to thrive into its next decade and beyond.”

Spring Impact is a global non-profit on a mission to scale social impact, so that great ideas change more lives. It partners with mission-driven charities, social enterprises and funders tackling the toughest social problems around the world – from homelessness to extreme poverty.

Reflecting on his appointment, Mohamed said:

“I am delighted and honoured to have been appointed as Spring Impact’s CEO and drive its global strategy to increase the reach and effectiveness of nonprofits everywhere. I am deeply passionate about ensuring that the impact of nonprofit organisations around the world can change more lives.

The rate at which social problems are accelerating needs to be met at scale with significant, nimble, and resourceful responses. Spring Impact’s unique and reliable methodology, approach, and team is wholly dedicated to supporting the amazing social sector organisations and leaders out there whose work could help even more people.

Over the last 10 years, we’ve partnered with over 250 organisations looking to scale up and have a greater impact on the people and communities they serve. I am incredibly excited to lead this work going forward, and work with ambitious organisations and funders who seek to make a dent in the world’s most pressing social challenges.”

Spring Impact Board Chair, Peter Freedman, commented:

“As UK Director, Mohamed has already demonstrated his exceptional leadership capabilities as well as his deep passion for the social sector. The Board is confident that, with Mohamed as CEO, the Spring Impact team will build further on Dan Berelowitz’s legacy, helping more clients to deliver lasting social impact at scale.

I would also like to pay tribute to Dan’s extraordinary achievements over the last 10 years and look forward to continuing to collaborate with him in his new role of Founder.”
