As we progress towards more impact, we will likely be confronted with the fact that ‘doing it alone’ won’t be enough. This is when organisations consider their role and how it might need to shift – from implementing, to enabling others to deliver the impact.

This means we have the hard task ahead of letting go of control, and getting comfortable with it – as the Foundation of Ecological Security (FES) discovered.

And once we are comfortable with it, the question still lingers: How can we do the shift from implementer to enabler, efficiently?

For FES, supporting partners and the government to deliver the work became critical to address the burning problem of restoring land rights and resources in India.

So they decided to take the leap and shift their role.

The results?   Millions more people impacted.
