Spring Impact is delighted to welcome Dr. Sam Owilly as its newest Board Member.
Sam is the Chief Executive Officer of BOMA, a US nonprofit and a Kenyan NGO with a proven track record of measurable impact and a transformative approach to alleviating poverty in the drylands of Africa.
Sam is a seasoned leader with decades of experience in scaling social impact organisations that are solving some of the toughest problems of our time. Under Sam’s leadership BOMA is scaling up solutions to address the challenges of deeply entrenched cycle of intergenerational poverty, gender inequality, youth unemployment, and the devastating impact of climate change on the poorest, most marginalised populations in the last mile communities in the drylands of Africa.

Sam’s leadership in the development sector combines a deep passion and a clear purpose derived from lived experiences in addressing global problems, along with the rigorous academic and professional training needed to master his area of expertise. This unique blend of experience has enabled Sam to lead BOMA through an unprecedented period of growth, expanding BOMA’s presence, program, and impact across six countries In Africa and nearly one million people and with a goal to reach millions more. Before taking on his current role as the BOMA CEO, Sam held leadership and management positions at BOMA and two other development organisations including Practical Action, Land O’ Lakes, ID.
