Scale Accelerator: Leaders of Scale applications open

Spring Impact opens applications for Scale Accelerator: Leaders of Scale, the last cohort to include subsidised places supported by generous funding from The National Lottery Community Fund

Spring Impact opens recruitment for Scale Accelerator: Leaders of Scale, a 6-month intensive training programme supporting a select group of ambitious social leaders to build the skills, knowledge, and mindsets needed to grow the reach and impact of their organisations.

Scale Accelerator is Spring Impact’s flagship programme for UK-based charities and social enterprises generously supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.

The new cohort will be the last to include subsidised and highly-subsidised places supported by The National Lottery Community Fund. Since 2015, over 47 ambitious UK charities and social leaders at the frontline of addressing key societal issues have participated in the programme. As a result, many have increased their reach and impact, expanded their solution to several locations, and gained funding for their next phase of growth.

Scale Accelerator: Leaders of Scale is aimed at leaders of mission-driven organisations that are planning on replicating a proven solution and are ambitious about positively transforming the lives of even more people.

Participants will join a carefully selected cohort of social leaders and will be guided by Spring Impact’s team of expert consultants through four key modules designed to enhance scale knowledge and build the capabilities needed to lead the scaling process strategically.

By the end of the programme, leaders will leave with a clear, actionable plan for scaling sustainably, frameworks and tools to build the capacity of their wider team, and the knowledge and confidence to drive their organisation’s journey to scale.

The programme will take place between March – August 2022 and will prioritise applications from UK-based charities and social enterprises from the following types of organisations:

  • Organisations addressing an issue worsened by Covid-19
  • Organisations based across Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland
  • Organisations led by leaders with lived-experience
  • Organisations supporting BAME groups and/or with BAME leadership

Mohamed Osman, UK Director at Spring Impact said:

“Charities and social enterprises across the UK provide indispensable support to many diverse communities across the country. The opportunity to develop their abilities, plans, and capacity necessary to scale up is essential to ensuring social leaders can bring their organisations’ vital work to more people, and ultimately change even more lives.

We’re thrilled to open applications for another cohort of ambitious leaders who are keen to harness the power of their solutions and look forward to helping them turn their ambitions into reality.”

Participants will receive practical training and guidance to assess the financial implications of their scale model, define clear objectives and develop a cohesive scale strategy that ensures impact and long-term sustainability.

Emma Ackerman, Funding Strategy Director at The National Lottery Community Fund, said:

“Thanks to National Lottery players we are proud to support the Scale Accelerator programme and continue the growth of great ideas across civil society. As charities and voluntary sector organisations continue to respond and recover from Covid-19, it’s great to see this programme supporting sustainable growth, which will ultimately help people and communities to prosper and thrive.”
