ABOUT THE BADGE

Only organisations who have completed a full consulting engagement and built a strategy for sustainable scale under expert challenge and guidance receive the badge.

Scaling is a multi-year process with many complex challenges and as such, the badges reflect the quality of an organisation’s approach and thinking, not a guaranteed outcome.

HOW TO EARN ONE

Scale Accelerator Badges

To earn a badge, each organisation has to successfully go through two stages:

  1. Selection

Every accelerator attracts hundreds of organisations, but of all of those, only a few match the criteria for the programme in question. Organisations are assessed rigorously on their mission, their model, their leadership, and their potential to scale meaningfully.

Most applicants are not accepted. Those that are have already cleared a high bar before the programme begins.

  2. Completion

Selected organisations go through a structured, expert-led programme combining one-to-one consultancy, training, and deep strategic support typically over many months to years.

By the end, they have interrogated their model, tested their assumptions, and built a concrete plan for sustainable growth.

The badge marks the ambition that got them selected, and the rigour of what followed.

The Leaders of Scale Badge

Some programmes include our 6-month Leaders of Scale training for individual leaders from participating organisations. Where participants complete this training successfully, they receive a training certificate to recognise this achievement.

These badges are held by individuals, not organisations, and can only be displayed on individual profiles. They accredit the skill training received by an individual not organisational readiness.

THREE BADGES MARKING STRATEGIC AMBITION

Scale Accelerator

Awarded to organisations that were selected through a competitive process and completed a Spring Impact Scale Accelerator programme.

Scale Accelerator Alumni

Awarded to organisations that were selected through a competitive process and completed a Spring Impact Scale Accelerator programme.

Training Badge

A training badge marks the completion of the specific course, recognising the skills and knowledge gained.

WHAT A SCALE ACCELERATOR BADGE MEANS

Carrying the Scale Accelerator badge as an organisation signals that the organisation:

  1. Has been identified from a competitive application pool as high-potential for impact at scale.
  2. Completed a structured, expert-led programme designed around their specific context and scaling ambition
  3. Has done the strategic work; tested assumptions, interrogated their model, built a plan for sustainable growth

You can find all the organisations that have been awarded a full Scale Accelerator badge in our Alumni Directory here.

FOR FUNDERS AND PARTNERS

When you see the badge on a website, LinkedIn company page, or in a presentation deck, you’re looking at an organisation that didn’t just consider scaling, but one that has done the work to understand what it actually takes to get there.

The badge tells you three things:

  • this organisation was chosen from a competitive pool,
  • they completed a deep scaling programme,
  • they’ve built a strategy for what comes next.

It supports your assessment and consideration of them. Organisations that have spent time thinking deeply about their scale strategy are more likely to be working toward long-term impact and building a sustainable, diversified model that does not solely rely on any single funder indefinitely.

If you’d like to formally recognise the badge as part of your grant-making process, or be listed as a recognising funder, we welcome that conversation. Please email our programmes team for further information.

If you have questions about a specific organisation displaying the badge, contact us directly.

FAQs

Does the badge expire?

Each badge records the year the programme started, during which the badge was acquired, with no expiration date. Each organisational badge is valid indefinitely or until it is recalled. However, the organisational badge is tied to the organisation, so individual leaders cannot carry the badge over to a new organisation. Each team member can keep their Alumni badge even if they have left the organisation, but they need to ensure the badge is correctly tied to the original organisation.

Does the badge mean the organisation has scaled successfully?

No. The badge certifies the process, not the outcome. The programme builds the conditions for scale; the scaling itself is what follows. Like a degree or professional qualification, it signals rigorous, expert-led work, but not a guaranteed result.

Can the training and accelerator badges be used interchangeably?

No. They are distinct. The Scale Accelerator badge is held by organisations and their teams, recognising that they were selected for and completed a full accelerator programme with expert-led consultancy. Training badges like the Leaders of Scale badge are individual and skill-specific, earned by participants who have completed a particular course.

Do organisations have to complete the full programme term/timeline to receive the badge?

Scale Accelerators run over a fixed term, but organisations don’t all progress at the same pace. The badge is awarded on completion of the key programme components, such as one-to-one consultancy, training, and working sessions, not on time served. Some organisations complete these sooner than others and are awarded their badge accordingly.

Can organisations that applied or only partially completed a programme carry the badge?

No. The badge is issued only to organisations that were selected and completed the programme. Application, shortlisting, or partial completion does not qualify.

Does Spring Impact endorse the organisation's current work?

The badge certifies programme participation and completion. It is not an ongoing endorsement of strategy, decisions, or work after the programme ends.

I'm a funder. Can I formally recognise the badge?

Yes, and we welcome it. Please contact us at [email protected] to discuss recognition and to be listed on our recognising funders page.

I've been through a Scale Accelerator but haven't claimed my badge yet.

Please get in touch and we’ll issue your badges. Send us an email to [email protected] with details about your organisation, the accelerator you’ve been part of, and the names and emails of the team members participating.
